Kaye's History of
Service
Kaye’s Pharmacy and Home Healthcare has served the local community for over 42 years. Founded by owner, pharmacist, and Meriden native Sam Kalmanowitz in 1963, Kaye’s began with three employees in a modest store located just across the street form its present location. Looking for room to grow, Sam moved his business to its present location, 679 East Main Street, in 1966.
In 1998, a major renovation transformed Kaye’s once again, and Sam now employs 54 employees in a modern pharmacy. The new facility provides room for a modernized pharmacy department, a unique prescription compounding facility, significantly increases space for the home healthcare department, and more. Investment in technology is a major priority as we seek new ways of improving the quality of services offered. Kaye’s was one of the first pharmacies in the nation to invest in a computerized records system and remains one of a few pharmacies in the nation to assist in the continual development and improvement of the QS1 pharmacy and home healthcare computer systems. Investments in recent years include the Refill Telemanager, an express system allowing customers the ability to request prescription refills 24 hours a day, and the ScriptPro SP200, a breakthrough technology that assists the pharmacy staff in the manual tasks of filling prescriptions. In a time when independently owned businesses struggle to succeed, Kaye’s thrives and continues to serve the same community that has provided loyal support throughout the years. Personal attention and quality care are synonymous with our name.
